1st graders continued studying
geometric and free-from shapes in Art class.
Students created abstract art just like the artist Kandinsky by drawing geometric and free-form shapes on sandpaper with crayons. Then the sandpaper was ironed to create these beautiful prints!
Wow, Those are so cool. I never thought of making prints with crayons and sandpaper. I just might have to try this sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea! I would love to try this sometime as well.
ReplyDeletethanks!
I remember seeing at a Miro retrospective in Paris, how he used to draw and paint onto Sandpaper too! It was an amazing exhibition which I just happened to see whilst on a holiday in France.
ReplyDeleteWow - these are beautiful! I'd like to do this with my first graders. What grit sandpaper did you use and how hot was your iron - when I tried this, only about 50% of the crayon color transferred. It was very speckled.
