Astronaut Self-Portraits

4th graders drew self-portraits and concentrated on correct proportions of the face. Next, students turn these self-portraits into astronauts floating in space! They were hung on the ceiling of the school hallway.
Nice work 4th grade!

Rainbow Aliens

5th graders continued their space lesson with these fun alien paintings! Students use the primary colors to mix the secondary colors that you see.
Next, 5th graders used their imaginations as they added details to their aliens.

Space Scene

In Art class, 5th graders learned the difference between circles and spheres. Students used shading (value) to transform a two-dimensional shape into what appears to be a three-dimensional form (sphere). 5th graders had to decide where their light source was coming from and place their planets correctly in their galaxies.

Mexican Suns

These fun painted paper suns were created by 2nd grade students. The idea came from Painted Paper's awesome blog! The students started by studying Mexico and viewing beautiful Mexican artworks. 2nd graders then used their own painted paper to cut and glue their suns together.
